Living Tree Children’s Home Conceptual Project in Castle Rock, CO
Living Tree Children’s Home was my capstone project in college. This project really opened my eyes on designing for a purpose. I worked with a “client” to deliver the needs for this project. The FF&E list was extensive; down to every accessory and art piece. I wanted to ensure this vision had no loop holes and could wholly happen, all the way down to the grade of materials.
Here are a few of the bullet points to give you the feel for the home:
Rooted Fundamentals - Giving children from all walks of life a space to evolve beyond their past and develop life skills to promote their future. Trauma-Informed Design - Applying principles to invoke a sense of safety, community, respect, and dignity. Inspiration - Nature produces a wide variety of inspiration for this project, including flora and fauna.
Design Style - Contemporary with clean lines and pops of color.
Overall Goal - Create a clean, colorful, and safe environment for children to connect with others and themselves and grow in love and confidence.
